Perennials is a botanical metaphor for unexpected shifts in natural and cultural landscapes and the fragility of their survival. The return of Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty on July 1, 1997 had an impact on the growth of Vancouver’s population and development at that time. This was an influence on the artwork.
418 m² (4,500 sq. ft) reflecting pool in the form of a leaf that landed randomly on the site. Water feature designed for entrance to pedestrian mews in downtown Vancouver. Coloured concrete, granite, slate. Inset lights along each side of leaf’s mid rib.
